Our Team

Meet Dr. Farkas
and her care team.

Dr. Gabriella Farkas leads this practice, and her clinical standards set how every patient is treated — the unhurried evaluation, the mechanistic approach to diagnosis, the commitment to understanding why your symptoms are happening. Jennifer Reilly, PMHNP-BC, works alongside her to support that care.

The Providers

Who you'll actually be seen by

A physician-led practice, deliberately small. No rotating residents, no handoffs to someone you've never met.

Founder & Psychiatrist

Gabriella I. Farkas, MD, PhD

Board-Certified Psychiatrist · Licensed in SC, NY & VA

Dr. Farkas didn't take the conventional path to psychiatry. She spent years as a neuroscientist studying the cellular and molecular architecture of mood disorders at The Rockefeller University before completing her medical training at Columbia and a research-track psychiatry residency at Zucker Hillside Hospital — one of only four NIH-designated research centers for serious mental illness in the country.

That research background isn't incidental. It shapes how she approaches every patient: not as a set of symptoms to suppress, but as a biological and psychological puzzle worth solving. Her pharmaceutical research work included contributing to the development of cariprazine, now a standard-of-care option in bipolar disorder and treatment-resistant schizophrenia.

My goal is not just to manage symptoms — it's to understand why they're happening and build a plan that can actually work long-term.

— Dr. Gabriella Farkas, MD, PhD

She sees patients in person on Hilton Head Island and across South Carolina, New York, and Virginia via telepsychiatry, with particular depth in cases where previous evaluations have been incomplete or incorrect.

Jennifer Reilly, PMHNP-BC

Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Jennifer is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nine years of experience providing compassionate, patient-centered mental health care. She works with adults navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and ADHD.

Her experience also includes co-occurring substance use disorders, including alcohol and benzodiazepine detoxification — an area many outpatient psychiatric practices aren't equipped to address alongside a primary mood or anxiety diagnosis.

I believe in a holistic approach that treats the whole person, recognizing that every individual's journey is unique.

— Jennifer Reilly, PMHNP-BC

Her goal is to work collaboratively with patients to create personalized treatment plans that support lasting mental wellness — practicing to the same clinical standards Dr. Farkas set for the practice.

How We Practice

The same standards, whoever you see

Dr. Farkas set the clinical philosophy this practice runs on. These four commitments apply to every patient on the schedule, without exception.

Mechanistic thinking

Understanding why symptoms occur — at the neurobiological level — leads to more targeted treatment than pattern-matching alone.

Time and thoroughness

New patients receive a 30–60 minute evaluation — roughly twice the standard. Revisiting a diagnosis properly often changes the entire plan.

Collaborative decision-making

Treatment is built with patients, not for them. Every option gets explained, every concern gets heard. Shared decision-making is the default, not the exception.

A “no harm” medication philosophy

Symptom relief that sacrifices quality of life isn't success. We actively work to minimize side effects while maximizing therapeutic benefit.
