Her Approach

Care built around the person

Jennifer came to psychiatric practice with a conviction that has shaped every year since: symptoms don't exist in isolation. Sleep, stress, relationships, medical history, and substance use all shape how a psychiatric condition presents — and how it responds to treatment.

Over nine years she has worked with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and ADHD — including patients whose care is complicated by co-occurring substance use. Her experience covers alcohol and benzodiazepine detoxification, an area many outpatient psychiatric practices are not equipped to address alongside a primary mood or anxiety diagnosis.

Her goal is to work collaboratively with patients to create personalized treatment plans that support lasting mental wellness. That means explaining the reasoning behind every recommendation, taking side effects seriously, and adjusting when something isn't working — the same standards Dr. Farkas set for the practice.

What to Expect

How care with Jennifer actually works

Same process every patient gets here, whether you see Jennifer or Dr. Farkas.

A real evaluation

New patients get 60–90 minutes — roughly twice the standard appointment. Enough time to cover current symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, prior treatments, and what's actually going on in your life.

A plan built with you

Every option gets explained, including the trade-offs. You'll understand why a medication is being recommended before you start it, and what to watch for once you do.

Adjustment, not autopilot

Symptom relief that costs you your quality of life isn't success. Side effects get taken seriously and the plan gets revised — with Dr. Farkas available for consultation on complex cases.

Common Questions

Before you book

What is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner?

A PMHNP is an advanced practice registered nurse with graduate-level training in psychiatric and mental health care. PMHNPs assess and diagnose mental health conditions, provide treatment, and manage psychiatric medication. The “-BC” in PMHNP-BC means board certified. Scope of practice is defined by each state's nursing board.

Can Jennifer prescribe and manage medication?

Yes. Medication management is a core part of psychiatric nurse practitioner practice. Jennifer works within this practice's physician-led model and coordinates with Dr. Farkas on treatment planning, particularly for complex cases.

What conditions does Jennifer treat?

Adults with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and ADHD, plus patients whose psychiatric condition is complicated by co-occurring substance use — including alcohol and benzodiazepine detoxification. See the full list above, or browse every condition the practice treats.

What happens at a first appointment?

New patients receive a 60–90 minute evaluation covering current symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, prior treatments and how you responded to them, and relevant life circumstances. You'll leave with a clear explanation of what is being recommended and why. See new patient information for what to bring.

Should I see Jennifer or Dr. Farkas?

Tell us what's going on when you reach out and we'll match you with the right clinician. Complex, treatment-resistant, or previously misdiagnosed cases typically start with Dr. Farkas. Either way, both providers work to the same clinical standards.
